it’s so good to be back – i’m finally done with exams ❤ the marks i get this year will be used as my predicted grades (i.e. they will be sent to the universities i’m applying to), so i’m kind of nervous about getting the papers back – but that will be a problem for next week, so let’s not talk about that 🙂
i’m working on a few bookish posts which will hopefully be ready later this week, but for the time being, here’s a little life update brought to you by me and my newly acquired 35mm film point-and-shoot camera!
testing my new camera with a good old mirror selfie. planned a birthday surprise for a friend on our first day back at school – i did the chocolate plaque by myself! our adorable little class succulent ❤ another surprise birthday cake!!! “working hard” for my chemistry final. i had the sudden and brilliant idea to snap a mirror selfie when my friends and i were taking the elevator, and we all ended up looking like something out of “the conjuring”. celebrating the end of exams at an artsy chinese / japanese fusion café. my friends trying to figure out how to prepare ochazuke. shanghai street – formerly a prosperous business corridor, the buildings on this street have now been revitalized into an art mall selling handcrafted goods and vintage clothes. ❤ one of my friends was admiring the gold tiled floor while the other looked up to me in confusion. we found this small store selling everything from clothes and bags to creepy dolls and joker masks. the decorations in the shops are all inspired by colonial-era hong kong signage, which i find super pretty. my friends and i then discovered this thrift store where almost everything was over our budget. we ended up buying rosie the riveter pins, which were the only thing we could afford. “hey josephine, can you look down at your phone and pretend to text somebody so i can take a picture?” we were playing mafia and when i opened my eyes there was a birthday cake in front of me! 🥺 i love my friends. funny story: this is our first successful 35mm photo together! the first time we tried taking one, the photograph was so underexposed it couldn’t get scanned, and the second time, half of her face was out of the frame.
(the first eight photographs are taken using fuji industrial film 400, and for the rest i used cirafilm 800.)

how have you all been? have you ever tried shooting film? do you prefer film or digital photography? let me know in the comments ❤

Congrats on finishing your exams! I think I like both digital and film photographer haha. Thanks for sharing 🙂

aww nimika thank you! ❤ college essays are so difficult to write and i'm on the verge of giving up 😦 at this point, the only thing keeping me going is the possibility of traveling all around europe if i get into a university in the united kingdom! i'm taking your word for it – i really hope it'll be worth it!

Had not seen such a creative life update in a while!! I have never tried shooting film and my knowledge concerning it is 0.0001%, probably. But seeing these photos is great.
Also: that plant is so cute, haha. ❤

ahh thank you linda! to be completely honest, the only reason why i did a photo update was that i was too lazy to write actual paragraphs 😂 i’m so glad you like it though!
my friends and i love that plant so much! everyone in our class is supposed to have a plant of their own for biology class, but all of them (except for this one!) died within a month. this little succulent is a fighter!
